MEARNS CONQUERS SPAIN’S  HIGHEST PEAK.....ON A HORSE!

How do you solve the problem of being a hillwalker with gammy knees? Take a horse. On September 28, 2006 that intrepid adventurer Mearns, known more for his South American exploits, scaled the 3479 metres of Mulhacen in the Sierra Nevada on a nine and a half hour trek from Trevelez. An independent summit witness, Owen from Nottingham, observed that while Dave’s partner, Elke, looked completely at one with her horse, Dave passed a closer resemblance to a sack of potatoes. However, undaunted, Dave looks forward to further exploits in South America this winter. Owen.....we know where you live.

Dave Mearns will take a session with the senior hons. Psychology class in the University of Glasgow on Thursday, 25 October, 2007. Here is a downloadable version of the slides he will be using that day.

The RAL conference in Dingwall was located in the stadium of Ross County, Britain's most northerly full-time professional football club. Dave is here pictured with the conference speakers and organisers along with the manager and some of the players from the football team. It should be noted that Dave's smile is somewhat forced, since Ross County had defeated his own team five days previously!

The slides for the lecture, 'Psychotherapy with Veterans' delivered as part of the Conflict Recovery Conference at Amport House on Thursday October 30. 2008, can be downloaded here.
